Meet Lorraine Kreimeyer
September 2014
You may know her as painter, sculptor, mask-maker, costume designer, playwright, poet, essayist, photographer, or benevolent elf. That's right, she is all of those - and much more.
If you walked into the lobby of the Dunham Library any time in August, you might have noticed the display cabinet featuring Lorraine's pastel drawings. These paintings piqued interest in her recent artistic project : Lorainbo, an interactive play about the journey of a young elf who explores the wonders of the forest. Lorraine's whimsical, organic, beautiful costumes and masks provided the ambiance for this magical experience for kids of all ages.
Lorraine is a larger-than-life personality and an artistic force in the Mohawk Valley. She seems to be permanently tapped into the creative wellspring. Among her many accolades is the award for "best painting" at the 2013 Munson-Williams-Proctor Institute Sidewalk Art Show and she has received well-deserved praise for her "Butterfly Girl" photo, which was recently on display at the library and can still be viewed on her blog. She also facilitates the library's "Poetry Plus" group, which meets the second Saturday of each month at the library.
Starting September 8th, 2014, Lorraine will present a series of 4 classes on creativity at the library. See the flyer on her blog for details of that and some of her literary efforts. http://lorrainepkreimeyer.blogspot.com
