March 2016 Assignment for Plotters Ink

This month's writing exercise is to portray in about 500 words (one page, front only when printed) someone who embodies the important and recognizable qualities found in either a friend or an enemy. This should be done in the context of a story if possible, or as a verbal character sketch.

We realize that this year's exercises have been challenging to our writers, but everyone who has completed these assignments has burst through their comfort zones to create something new and different. Many of the stories we've written have had issues, and the feedback received by our peers has been helpful in pointing out how our character portrayals can be improved.

The meeting will be held from 1-3 PM upstairs at the library. Please bring about 10 copies of your story to distribute to the members of the group so we can read them together. In case of bad weather, check with the library or watch for updates on our Facebook page (Whitesboro Writers - and please ask to be our friend if you aren't one yet).

We encourage you to do an "image search" on your browser for "friends and enemies", where you will find many photos, quotes and cartoons that will ignite your imagination. Here are two of them. Good luck!
