We are pleased to introduce Brian Miga, who joined our local writing group last fall. He lightens the mood each and every time. This is an example of his humor, a bio written in his own words:
I
started writing stories, primarily about Indians and football players, when I
was 7 or 8. No one was remotely
interested in reading these stories so I wasn’t bloodied by any early critical
reviews. My confidence is still soaring!
Due
to the Russians and Sputnik, I was pushed into the math - science course of
study at Whitesboro where I learned I would never be an engineer. It wasn’t until I could choose my courses at
University of Rochester that I developed a fondness for literature and writing. I had some great teachers like Poet Anthony
Hecht; it was fun trying to hide in the back of the room.
After
college, I studied law and embarrassed my family by becoming an attorney and,
worse yet, a politician. (My mother
always wanted me to be in shoe sales.)
There
are some very talented people at Whitesboro Writers Group and, occasionally,
they let me sit at the same table with them.
It is a wonderful group for all who enjoy shaping and sharing stories. The Whitesboro Writers Group share their
knowledge and I learn things every monthly session.
