Coming in June: Learn to Blog Program

Whitesboro Writers Group, in conjunction with our excellent library, will host the first FREE hands-on workshop for anyone who wants to learn how to set up and operate a personal blog, using Google Blogger. The initial workshop will be held on Tuesday, June 16, at 6 PM in the library's Community Room.

Seating is limited to 12 bloggers. Please pre-register to reserve your seat. You may send an email to whitesborowriters@gmail.com or phone the library (736-9734) to check availability.

Our own blogs all utilize Blogger. As you can see, there are many ways to change the look of a blog. This is just one of the things you can learn if you attend the workshop.

In order to set up a blog, you will first need to create a Gmail (email) account. If you don't already have one, please do so before attending the workshop. It's free and easy to use.

In this beginners' workshop, you'll choose a blog name, get a unique web address, select a basic format from the many available, and learn how to post your story, article, etc.

From there, you'll discover how to edit and embellish postings with photos, links and fonts, and how to share with Facebook and Twitter. You'll learn to add "gadgets" that make your page look great, and use the statistical functions like tracking page views, and much more.

The possibilities are endless. We'll get to as many of them as we can fit into this two-hour workshop.

If you have a laptop computer or an iPad, please bring it with you so you can perform your setup as we go through each step. If you don't have a portable device, we think you'll still get the hang of it by watching us take you through the process.

For questions, please send your email to : whitesborowriters@gmail.com ATTN: BLOGGER, or call the library information desk  at 736-9734.
