Whitesboro Writing Sampler

In January 2011 a small but earnest group of local individuals formed a prose- writing group in the  village of Whitesboro, New York.  Another group, for fiction writing,  formed in May, 2014.

We keep growing and thriving by sharing what we have written at our monthly meetings, and we also publish our creative work in print and for the general public via our virtual internet community. This and several other blogs are the result of our hard work, creativity and personal expression.

And now we have some of our many stories on display at the library for those who may not have internet service.

So far we have 11 original  and very different styles, both fiction and non-fiction, on display, most chosen as favorites of the authors themselves.  There's something for everyone!  Sue Hansen  crafted her story like you would craft a quilt. Barb Shuck weighed the pros and cons of being vs. having company. Judy Jerome recounted  a lesson learned when she lived in England. Paul deBlois's fictional story depicts how strangers can selflessly come to our aid.

Joan Scharf's story about a young child's heart could break yours. CJ Alexander described the tense hours in the ER immediately following her mother's fall and fracture.  To brighten things up, Jerry Masi delighted us with his speculation about a young couple's love life.

Ginny Enea flew the friendly skies while sitting next to an IRS agent "with issues".  Miriam E. Waters has some unique ideas about what can make a person lucky. Janice Cardin told the story of a type-cast actress.

And last but not least, Lou Poccia's sense of humor comes forth as he describes the unwelcome experience of buzz-kill.

Intrigued?  Come on down and read the stories, up close and personal.  Don't stop there, either...all of these stories and literally hundreds more are available to read online, 24/7.  Just click on one of the links you see below the header at the top of this page.

Some of our writers participate in  both prose-writing groups. For those of you who like poetry, there is a poetry writing group as well.

Dunham Public Library sponsors all of three of our formal monthly writing groups. In addition to the Monday Night Writers group (usually every 4th Monday at 6 PM), and the new fiction-only writing group which meets every 2nd Thursday at 2 PM, there is also a Poetry Plus group that meets every 2nd Saturday at 10:30 AM, except in July and August.

We hope that you will feel free to browse our creative works here, online within the blogs,  at the library, and maybe.....come join us at one or all of the meetings. It's free, fun, and a great place to meet and make new friends too.

If you have any comments or questions, please contact us at whitesborowriters@gmail.com

As always....keep writing!
