Greetings, Fellow Writers,
Are you interested in becoming a more effective writer of creative prose?
If so, consider joining the members of Whitesboro's Monday Writers Group. We meet on the 4th Monday of each month from 6-8 PM in the Dunham Public Library boardroom. As of June 2018, the group is in its 7th year.
Each month we feature two new writing themes or "prompts". Attendees are expected to write original prose (fiction or non fiction) of up to 500 words on their choice of prompt. We make copies to distribute to the other participants (*see note below) to read along as we read our own stories aloud. Constructive comments are offered to each writer immediately afterward.
We recommend using Ariel font 12-14 point and numbered lines for ease of reference. You may print on front and back of the sheet. A catchy, appropriate title is part of good writing!
Anyone who wishes to have their story published on our public blog may do so. See submission guidelines.
Currently we are offering an ADVANCE SUBMISSION PROGRAM. Stores for the Monday session are due to firstname.lastname@example.org on or before 6 PM of the Friday before the meeting. We will collect the submissions and then distribute them to all participants that evening. Participants are asked to print, read, analyze, and prepare constructive feedback on each story before the meeting. Our goal is to discuss ways each piece can be improved, point out sections that may be unclear to readers, and find something to praise in each story.
We hope to see you soon!
(* Note) If you are participating in the advance submissions program, you needn't make copies for the other participants. However, you may wish to print extras in case other writers are attending who are not participating in advance submissions.)
